Without it, you have to save for weeks before you can afford mats for the next big raid. In order to avoid being the big loser in the next raid that everyone makes fun of, try listening to these tips.
Probably the best way to make gold is to choose a gathering profession. Because of their nature, they can make a lot of money. Mining is a great example. Both engineers and blacksmiths need miners, and you'll be more than happy when they fork over the gold to you. Here's a hint: a good place to find iron is in the Arathi Highlands.
Try fishing the next time you play. Go out and fish for pearls. One golden pearl will sell for three times as much as black pearls: sometimes as much as 30!
Here's a hint that not many take advantage of: try combining the gathering with your service profession. You can use the materials you gather to craft items. That way, you don't have to buy the items and you can make the maximum amount of gold. For example, you can always combine alchemy with herbalism. You'll need the herbs to make the potions which you can sell to make a good profit.
Of course, if you're playing the Wrath of the Lich King, you'll find that you'll receive more gold simply by killing mobs than in the original. Try that out the next time you go out to play.
