San Francisco’s Latin Quarter

The Mission District or commonly referred to as the “Mission” is one of San Francisco’s neighborhoods that have a large Latino population. The district was so named because of the sixth Alta California mission, Mission San Francisco de Asis that was built in the area, prior to urbanization the area was land settled by Mexican American ranchos.
