Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Video Games - The Advantages and Disadvantages

The CBS recently carried a report mentioning the vexed and very controversial subject of whether video games can harm kids or not. Given the problems that ADHD kids have with inattention, this is particularly relevant when we have to consider the question of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and video games.

The report which was published in Pediatrics also covers the difficult question of watching TV and other media. This report was about a twelve month study carried out by The Iowa State University. The researchers found that those children who had been watching video games for more than two hours were reported to be having attention problems in the classroom and at home. Usually parenting organisations and other experts recommend that the time limited to this media should not exceed two hours a day. The more time the children spent on video games, the more attention problems they had at school. As we can imagine the implications for ADHD kids are enormous.

It would seem that this is a problem which will have to be addressed, especially when we consider that most entertainment and even learning now is based on screen technology. Every child in the country is glued to some sort of screen. What a pity they have not got their heads in a book!

There are other problems connected with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and video games in that there is a definite risk of addiction. Try telling a kid to stop playing and the reply will be that he does not want to lose the level he has already reached. There will probably be hostility and aggression present as well. The dangers are there of addiction and social isolation.

I know of one ADHD kid who played the Diablo 2 war game every day for two years and gained 170 lbs! What a waste of energy! Kids are losing out on outdoor activities which can get rid of pent up energy for hyperactivity whereas video games can shut the kid into a doubtful, violent and fast moving world which is light years from the reality of school and home life.

There are some advantages of course in being able to be quick and expert at these games. For example hand-eye coordination can be enormously improved. I know one family who bought the game 'Rock Band' and their kids are limited in its use but they have gone on to actually start learning the guitar and drums.

Other research done by NASA suggests that video games can actually improve focus and attention and control. The fact that they can get short term rewards can apparently stimulate the dopamine brain transmitter which is important for motivation. The research was done to test astronauts' attention levels on long space trips. Obviously more research needs to be done especially in the area of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and video games.

So there we have it. Every parent will have to decide how much gaming and computer time is right for their children. Moderation and a wide variety of different activities is probably the best approach. I would hate my kid to be a slave to a war game!

Going Fishing in World of Warcraft and How to Bring in the Valuable Catch

Fishing is probably the most valuable of secondary professions. You'll need to learn from an NPC (non-playing character) trainer, much like other professions. It's also like other professions in that it involves gathering, similar to mining, herbalism and skinning. Fishing is a very extensive skill which is almost like a game inside the main WoW game. It's fun and exciting but can also add to a player's wealth.

After finding a fishing trainer, usually by any lake or river, you'll need to buy a pole from a trade merchant or auction house. After acquiring your pole return to your trainer who will then instill you with Journeyman, Expert, and Artisan fishing skills. If you want to become a fishing master, you'll have to journey to the farther reaches on your map. But let's start off slow.

To gain your first skill point as a fisherman you'll have to have successfully caught more than one catch. Note that better fishing poles equal better and more valuable catches. Once you've raised your fishing skill to 20, you'll be able to buy and use the Big Iron fishing pole. You can earn superior poles through quests, but be aware that some quests are exclusive depending on which faction your character belongs to.

Where to fish? We all know that rivers and lakes make great sources, but not every location yields results to every player. Some fishing spots are only suitable for certain levels of players. If you notice that you've been catching junk for the past hour, maybe that spot is only open to high level players. Increase your skill level and return later to newer and better rewards.

Corporations and Fund Raising

More and more companies are working together with charities. A partnership that has good things in store for both sides. I could see it with my own eyes, when I and some friends went to a fund raising event in Singapore. A local transportation company supported us raising funds for a local nursing organization.

The company helped us with ideas for rewarding those who made a donation. While helping us the company at the same time was able to raise their profile amongst the public and was able to promote their services. This may well have gained a competitive advantage in the competitive transport market in Singapore.

At the same time the donations helped to help poor and elderly people and was also able to create a higher awareness of their goals. A win-win situation not only for the company, but also for the charity and most importantly for those in need.

This is especially important as corruption scandals in the recent past shuck the trust in charity organizations in Singapore in the recent past. This might show donating money in a more positive light and might cause a shift for good amongst the public.

Singaporeans are long known for their generosity and surely will not turn a blind eye on the needs of the elderly and poor people. Receiving the products as rewards will make them appear in a positive light. A strategy more companies should think about in the future to make them stand out from the crowd.

How to Get a Western Look in Your Home Decor

Riding off the success of it's Fallout games, Black Isle produced this richly detailed game using the same engine as Baldur's Gate. The game was very lengthy with interesting characters, storyline and dialogue which made it enjoyable to play for long periods of time.

3. Might and Magic IV:Mandate of Heaven
The Might and Magic series have always been great fun and the new Heroes of Might and Magic games have been no exception. The reason that this game is set apart from other RPGs is the fact that they kept to the expansive worlds and rich gameplay that other developers began shying away from. You were able to choose between real time or turn based gameplay to really suit your style.

2. Baldur's Gate
This game has strode confidently into second place through reinventing RPG games in an addictive real-time format. Taking the rule set of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Bioware created a brand new story in which you control a party of adventurers from a range of skill backgrounds. This allowed you to experience all the different styles of classes during the game as there was dozens of NPC characters you could choose from to join your adventurer.

And the best RPG PC game of the 1990s is:

1. Diablo
By far the most enjoyable RPG PC game of the 1990s. While it lacked the ability to influence the storyline, the sheer addictiveness of it made it a fantastic game. With terrific graphics for the time and the ability to alter your players image via changing equipment made this one of the all time best RPG PC games.

All these games are worth playing, most can be purchased for less then $20 online.

Why Diablo III Will Be the Best Game Ever Made

The Diablo series is the best PC game series ever made. Of course this is just a matter of opinion. A lot of people will say that World of Warcraft is the best RPG ever made but I disagree.

Brief History

Diablo I was created by a group of programmers from a company called Blizzard Entertainment. The first title was just called "Diablo". In the first title you started off as 1 of 3 classes of characters and battled your way through many monsters, bosses and story line until you killed Diablo himself.

Diablo II came out next which was a much better game and they added 4 new classes of characters. They continued the story line and introduced new characters and added tons of new items. This game reigned in it's time and out of all the games I ever played (which is a LOT!) this game was always the best. I literally played it for 5 years.

Diablo III

At the time of this article this game had not been released however the mere trailers and teaser videos alone have got many people hyped up and looking forward to this 3rd version. They overhauled the game completely but kept all of the important elements which make Diablo the best in its class of hack n' slash. They kept the game in third person view but enhanced the graphics tremendously using directx 10. This is exactly was I was hoping they would do and I am very excited.

Gameplay

Diablo is a hack n' slash game. This means that you can attack or get attacked by many monsters in real time and your attacks are based on how many times you press buttons, etc. The skills on Diablo are setup so that you can switch between them quickly and created various strategies. Skill animations are notorious for looking beautiful in Diablo.

Graphics

They went ahead and created Diablo III using DirectX 10. This makes for a much more pleasant visual experience due to details, physics and destructible environments. Third person view remains the same, thank God! I always said it would ruin the game if they went first person view like they did World of Warcraft.

Multiplayer

Another one of Diablo's fun factors is the online play with parties of people interacting throughout the world. Diablo has always been free to play online but I have not seen if this will be true in the third version. Here is to hoping...

Addictive Gameplay and Random Environments

2 other distinct Diablo attributes is the endless addictive gameplay. Diablo was always built to randomly create dungeons and levels so that the replay value is tremendous. The extreme quantity of items, character and skill strategies, and weapon mods make this game extremely addicting.

Diablo III should jump into one of the best games of all time in the next years to come. I believe it will be a big competitor to World of Warcraft. Loyal Diablo fans know this and they are very excited.

The Proper Way to Fund Raise

Today I had the opportunity to be involved in and observe how corporations and charitable organizations team up to create "win-win" situations for both entities. I and several of my friends were part of a fund raising event in Singapore. We were raising funds to help a local nursing organization. The primary sponsor of the even was a transport organization.

The organization helped by providing designs for products that were handed out to each person who made a donation. I believe this illustrates the pervasive influence of commercial enterprises and non-profit organizations. However, I would like to share what I saw and discuss how both the organizations and the public benefitted from this cooperative effort.

The transport organization provided the designs and products to hand out to donors. In this way it enhances its services and presence to the public. Singapore has a fiercely competitive market for transport. By partnering with the non-profit organization the transport organization is working to maintain its presence in the public eye, retaining a competitive advantage in the market and hopefully capturing a share of the market. It was not only the transport organization that benefitted.

The nursing organization received a number of generous donations from the public. Both organizations were able to boost their profiles. With so many charitable and non-profit organizations, it's important to stay competitive even in the non-profit sector. In addition, Singapore has had several scandals erupt recently which cast charitable organizations in a poor light.

This venture is one method to negate the poor impression that the publics was given regarding charitable organizations. Finally the public also benefitted from this partnership. Singaporeans are known for their generosity toward charitable organizations.

When they or anyone donate, they trust that the money is going toward a good cause. They trust that it will be used to help the elderly and the sick. In return for their generosity they receive a product, intended to give them a good impression of the company, but also a good feeling for donating. It may also be a product that they need or may need in the future. Therefore the public is also helped. People benefitted all around from this agreement, it truly was "win-win".

Sedona Jazz on the Rocks

Envision a formation of uniquely shaped red rocks situated on a plateau with the river rushing by and you have just found paradise. Sedona puts its best foot forward in September when they welcome you to the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Festival. 2009's dates are September 22nd thru the 27th. The tradition of this festival began in 1981 when the first jazz musicians took to the stage, and the event has gained in popularity ever since. Jazz is considered an art form, and no one does it better than the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Festival. Everything comes together when you place fantastic music in a breathtaking town like Sedona.

For five days in September the world's greatest jazz musicians descend on Sedona. Legends and newcomers burst onto the landscape, enriching lives with their performances. The organization is nonprofit, with some of the proceeds going to send aspiring jazz talents to music schools. You can attend free concerts, so grab a chair and spend the day.

The Sedona Jazz on the Rocks continues to grow and each year we see more events added to the program. Some of the favorites from last year included the films and a larger schedule of free concerts. Jazz lovers were able to enjoy the wonderful beauty of Sedona at the outdoor stage. The addition of a dinner and dancing to the great sounds of the festival was a complete success.

We are all hoping that the wine maker dinner that was one of the features of the 2008 festival will make a return. This event was as delicious as it was entertaining. However, everyone looks forward the most to the all day festival. Last year's artists included the Bobby Hutcherson Quartet, B3's Tony Monaco, Giacomo Gates and the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Youth Band. They were just some of the performers that excited us on stage. We will undoubtedly see the same high caliber jazz musicians in 2009.

The Radisson Poco Diablo Resort hosts the festivities as usual. Some of the free concerts took place at Tlaquepaque in the past and we should see a return to this unique shopping plaza. The ambiance that is the essence of Tlaquepaque blends beautifully with the resounding jazz notes that fill the air. Dine at the fine restaurants and pick up the perfect remembrance of your enchanting visit to the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Festival.

You can expect to once again find music clinics at the school. These clinics have proven to be extremely popular with everyone that attends the festival. Customized Truck Rims

The best truck rim is one which can provide a good grip on the road to avoid accidents. Ideally it is suggested to purchase one which comes from the truck's manufacturer. The Truth About Hollywood Film Schools

So you want to be the next Spielberg or Peter Jackson or maybe just Oren Peli, who directed the hit "Paranormal Activity" for under fifteen thousand dollars. It makes sense to consider Los Angeles film schools because most of the industry is right here. But the most important question you have to ask yourself is: how much are you willing to shell out?

USC is the most famous of the film schools in the metropolis, with alums like George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, Judd Apatow and Bryan Singer. The cost for just two semesters? More than thirty thousand dollars, not including supplies or room and board, as per the USC website. Come to think of it, that would be the cost of two Paranormal Activities! They do have great professorsÖ but some classes can have hundreds of students in them.

The American Film Institute is another renowned Los Angeles film school. Tuition for one year alone is roughly forty thousand dollars, as per their estimates. For some people, that amount is nothing compared to the fact that you would have the reputation of graduating from the same school where Darren Aronofsky, Ed Zwick and Terrence Malick came from. But then again, there may not be sufficient space for one-on-one activities with a class size of over a hundred.

UCLA costs a meager six thousand annually if you're a California resident, but if you're not, it's over twenty thousand. Even though you'll be under the instruction of such luminaries as Peter Guber and Joe Roth, classes are still so big.

Another notable school that offers an undergraduate degree on film and television is Loyola Marymount. Their fee is around USD 34,000 a year. Student-teacher ratio is ideal, around thirteen-is-to-one.

Now there is the Los Angeles Film School, founded in 1999. It has featured guest speakers such as Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody. Cost: over $41,000, with a student body of 595. A recent graduate co-directed the feature film "Gamer" starring Gerard Butler.

While the programs provided by these reputable schools are equally prestigious, they still follow the typical classroom setup. None of them offer true one-on-one mentors where a student can observe a professional at work regularly and learn on the job.

Women in Film looks like a promising academy but searching the internet proved to be futile - there were no success stories associated with their program.

CBS, fascinatingly, offers a mentor program (in fact, they offer two mentors) for television writing. One of the mentors is a senior-level writer for one of current drama or comedy series of CBS. Over the course of the program, the participant gathers creative feedback on their writing as well as tips on their career objectives. The other mentor is a CBS network or studio executive with whom they meet regularly to discuss their work, get feedback and also get support in furthering their career. This course and the Women in Film program are both free to participants.

It seems like Los Angeles film schools are missing out on a great opportunity - if they offered such one-on-one mentoring programs, there would probably be a lot more stories of great achievements from their students.

Auto Body Repair at Home in Five Steps

Fixing damage to the body of your auto is a repair that can be done at home or in a professional body shop. Body Auto Repair shops fix thousand of dents every day, from the large ones that prevent the vehicle from being used properly, to small ones that take only a few minutes for a professional. First, let us look at doing the job yourself.

It is not hard to justify an expensive professional repair with severe body damage to your car. However, small dents in your car can be fixed at home if you have the right tools and knowledge. To do the repair, body filler, also known as Bondo, is the best and easiest choice. The key to any auto repair is to take your time - if you do that, the body of your vehicle will look like new again. To do the Body Auto Repair yourself, you will need wet/dry sandpaper, some Bondo, putty to glaze with, plastic spreaders, and primer.

(1) Start by sanding the paint down until you see bare metal. This is necessary for the Bondo to stick. Sand a little further out than the actual size of the dent.
(2) The Bondo should come with a hardening agent that you mix once the surface of the Body is sanded. This hardener will set quickly, so once it's mixed, get to work laying it on the damaged area.
(3) When the Bondo has set, sand the area smooth and fill in any divots you might have missed. This can be done with glaze putty and a plastic spreader.
(4) Sand the puttied area smooth, and begin priming the area. Make sure to tape off a large area to avoid spilling over or repainting your car.
(5) Primer needs to be wet-sanded once it is dry. This can be done with a bottle of filtered water and the same fine sandpaper.

Body Auto Repair does not have to be hard, but the larger repairs are best left to a professional shop. As for that last step, the painting, getting it done by a pro will ensure your hard work does not go to waste.

Choosing a shop for your Repair is an important decision. A bad repair can leave your car looking damaged, causing its value to go down. The worst case scenario is that the repair will have to be redone. Have a list of shops before they are needed, and make sure they use the latest equipment, and warranty their work.

I

A great turtle raised up his head-

from the dark, but crimson underbelly

of the inner Earth, His stone like head,

and deep gray eyes of despair-stared,

just stared with a long poiso'd tongue hung.

"Cruel, jealous, selfish are men,"

He said with a failing grin....

His outer body (casing), charred,

from the molten heat of the earth.

"What are your sorrows?" asked

Man to this giant figure.

The Great Mud Turtle replied:

"I cannot hold or balance the world

any longer, there's too much concrete,

streets, buildings, wars, bombs, the

shifting of balance throughout the world,

it's breaking my back, its penetrating

my hide, its tormenting my character,

I care not to be bondage bound!"

But men on earth would not comply

yet asked again "Why?"

II

"Love seeketh not itself to please

nor does it care for itself; and I,

I have loved thee (even while in despair;

for earth, and man are bond as one, I,

well, I am just a mud turtle, watcher

of the balance, between man and earth,

for I and earth are bond, for earth is

mud, and man is soil, we all are one.)

So, yes-you see, I have loved thee

even while in despair, even while being

trodden over by your heavy feet,

and you still, only seeketh, self to please,

even in the course of another loss; thus,

life to man is not sacred, only him: despite

heaven or hell, he does not bend.

(The old turtle took in a deep breath,

He was exhausted, and then continued :)

"He has been given spring for joy, sweet

mornings to bear, flowers to grow

around him for beauty. Does not he

sow night for sleep, plow his dreams

without misery? This my friend, is

because of balance, me, and the moon,

and the sun, and the earth, and the

heavens, and even hell, for heaven

puts out their nightmares."

After hearing this, men of earth

release the Great Mud Turtle, from his

binding chains, in the name of liberty-;

hoping He'd regain his contentment

(but he was gone, not to be found)-,

and therefore, the balance of the earth

wobbled to and fro, off its axis, and

earth quakes, hurricanes, volcanic activity,

and much, much more, called natural disasters

prevailed around the globe (glaciers melted,

mountains fell, oceans roared, and the skies

flamed like hell) and then, then man knew,

he had cursed himself, for such foolish labor...

unchaining the Mud Turtle, calling him the Devil-

and then came the eternal winter, there was no

warmth in the air-nor did rain fall,

to man's appall...!

IV

A prophet came upon the earth

(in its hindering seventh winter)

said to man:

"Underneath one of those trees,

there in the great woods, pointing

towards its strong wind, from

where I stand, is a little child turtle!

who knows no better, he does not

know your harm, your heart, nor

your growing despair...I shall take

you to the tree: I'll show you where!"

(Said man in his

anger and hate, 'Is this child from the

Great Mud Turtle?')(but the old prophetic

would not replay, and continued)):

"As I was saying, this child turtle

is best for you to find, he has the means

to balance the earth, although he doesn't know

this (for he has that endurable shell),

but this will be for you, and he, to work out."

But the pride of man was strong, like

a lion, and his heart was full of anger.

Hence, they hung the old prophet, where

he stood.... Alas! Weary were the times

thereafter.

And it came to pass, man had perished from

the face of the earth, and from their graves

all they could see (their corpses, spirits, skeletons,

eyes of ashes, residue), see was: stones, and more

stones, brimstones, rubble and dried up rivers

I

Una gran tortuga levantó su cabeza

-desde las oscuras pero carmesí entrañas de la tierra-

su cabeza como de piedra

con una larga lengua venenosa colgada

y sus ojos grises profundos en desesperación

miraron fijamente, sólo miraron fijamente.

"Crueles, celosos y egoístas son los hombres",

dijo ella con una sonrisa fallida...

Su cuerpo exterior (su caparazón),

estaba carbonizado por el intenso calor de la tierra.

"¿Cuáles son tus penas?",

preguntó el hombre a esta gigantesca figura.

La Gran Tortuga de Barro respondió:

"No puedo sostener o equilibrar el mundo.

¡Ya no! Hay demasiado concreto,

calles, edificios, guerras, bombas;

el cambio de equilibrio en todo el mundo,

está rompiendo mi espalda,

está penetrando en mi escondite,

está atormentando mi carácter

y no quiero ser obligada a la opresión".

Pero a los hombres en la tierra

no les importaría aunque preguntarían otra vez

de sus cadenas atadoras (en nombre de la libertad)

esperando que ella recuperara su satisfacción

pero ella se fue para no encontrarla,

y por eso, el equilibrio de la tierra

se tambaleó de un lado a otro,

fuera de sus ejes, y,

terremotos, huracanes, actividades volcánicas

y mucho, mucho más, llamados desastres naturales,

prevalecieron alrededor del globo

(los glaciares se derritieron, las montañas se cayeron,

los océanos rugieron y el cielo ardió como infierno)

y entonces, entonces el hombre supo,

que él se había maldecido a si mismo,

por tal labor imprudente...

desencadenando a la Gran Tortuga de Barro,

llamándola el Diablo,

entonces vino el invierno eterno,

no hubo calor en el aire,

ni tampoco las lluvia cayeron,

para espanto del hombre...!

IV

Un profeta vino sobre la tierra

(en su penoso séptimo invierno)

y dijo al hombre:

"Debajo de uno de aquellos árboles

allá en los bosques inmensos

(apuntando hacia los grandes bosques)

según lo sé, ¡hay una pequeña tortuga joven!,

quien no sabe de tu daño,

de tu corazón ni de tu creciente desesperación...

Te llevaré hacia el árbol:

¡Te mostraré dónde está!"

Preguntó el hombre lleno de enfado y odio,

"¿Es esta tortuga hijo de la Gran Tortuga de Barro?

Pero el viejo profeta

no respondió y continuó:

"Como te iba diciendo,

es mejor que tú encuentres a esta tortuga joven,

ella tiene los medios para equilibrar la tierra

(ya que ella tiene esa caparazón resistente),

aunque ella no sabe esto,

pero esto será para ti y para ella,

algo que tendrán que trabajarlo juntos".

Pero el orgullo del hombre

era fuerte -como un león-

y su corazón estaba lleno de enojo.

Así, ellos ahorcaron al viejo profeta,

donde estuvo...¡desgraciadamente!

Difíciles fueron los tiempos

a partir de entonces.

Y llegó a pasar que los hombres

se extinguieron de la faz de la tierra

y desde sus tumbas todo lo que podían ver

(sus cadáveres, sus espíritus, sus esqueletos,

sus ojos llenos de cenizas, sus residuos)

todo lo que podían ver era:

piedras y más piedras, azufre,

escombros, ríos y lagos secos;

The term "online games" principally refers to those games that connect players through a line, this connection may be through a local lan or through the internet. Many game genres have developed for multiplayers. You have first person shooter games, first realized with Doom, real time strategy games, the most popular one being DOTA, the cross-platform games for which the code runs on dll packages that are common for several or all operating systems, browser games which run on internet browsers and MMORPG which is a sophisticated browser game that needs high-speed dsl to run. Online gaming has become one popular medium for meeting age and interest peers.

The Diablo Series of Online Games

The Diablo series of online games (I, II and the up and coming III) is medieval hispanic in theme. It is a battle and action MMORPG which was first released on November 30, 1996 by Blizzard Entertainment. Versions I and II are in 2D. Version II is divided into 5 episodes with increasing difficulty. The player's mission is to defeat the three diabolic brothers; Mephisto, Diablo and Baal who are encountered in episodes 3, 4 and 5 respectively. The player can create his character from 7 role types; the amazon, the assassin, the necromancer, the barbarian, the paladin, the sorceress and the druid.

Character Building in Online Games

Following the success of Diablo I and II, many other online games were produced and achieved great popularity. Most of the successful new MMORPG's based their game philosophy on Diablo. A game character increases his level by gaining experience points normally done by killing monsters. Character statistics are generally divided into strength, intelligence, dexterity, life. Character statistics may receive different names in different games. Intelligence is usually associated with spiritual force or mana. Some games make a distinction between agility and dexterity. Each role type in the game needs to build one special statistic to be effective in game play.

Online Game Bosses

MMORPG's normally have storylines which were used to create the game maps and character roles in online games. A game map is a virtual location in the game characterized by having one set of monsters more or less belonging to the same level of difficulty. These monsters occupy that location and the player increases his levels by defeating these monsters. For each location, there is normally one outstandingly strong and well defended monster whose life statistics can run up to the tens of millions. This is the boss of that map. Some bosses can be killed by a single player and some require the players to group into a party to kill it.

Online Game Virtual Incentives

Like the real world, online game worlds also have their economy and their monetary units. Very often, wealth is measured by silver or gold. Diablo II uses gold as its medium of business. Other games invent their own currency; Granado Espada uses vis to conduct transactions. At the lower character levels, the player acquires money by selling items dropped by his monster kills. The value of the items is proportionate with the level of the monster of enemy killed. Once in a while the player manages to pick up items with exceptional attributes, a powerful weapon or very strong defensive gear or items with great magical power.

Online Game Group Play

Many online games feature a group play module where players can assemble in groups for a specially difficult task; to kill a boss monster perhaps. These groups may be variously called parties or squads. Credits for monster kills are shared among the members of the group. The game may provide various options for sharing item drops. Items are usually awarded to the group member who deals the strongest blow. These group escapades are often assembled for quests. Quest items are usually granted to all players in the group, regardless of who dealt the strongest blow. Some players prefer to play alone to avoid squabbles over items but in general playing in a group speeds up the acquisition of experience points.

Online Game Guild Formation

The players of an online game may be given the option to join clans, or guilds or families. These clans have a grand master who has different titles in different games.

Acquiring membership in a clan or guild usually awards bonus statistics to the individual player. These statistics may be different from the normal ones determining the individuals physical and magic powers. Clan membership is an advantage to a player because he can ask for the help of his clan mates in performing quests, sell his good items to them or buy items from them more easily than if he were to make a similar request to other individual players.

Online Game Player Control

The prevalent policy in online games is "one player at a time." Although a player can create as many as 20 characters for a single player account, in nearly all cases, he can only play with one character at a time. Granado Espada, however, popularized the concept of controlling many characters at a time. You can control from one up to three players in this game. The obvious implication to this is that the game experience points are shared among the three characters. Limiting play to only one character in games like this speeds up the experience gain for that character but makes self-defense a little bit harder to negotiate.

Making Money with Online Games

There are many players who have made playing online games their profession. For a diligent and consistent player, money can be made selling game currency, game items and even game accounts for real life currency. This practice has sparked a major controversy between players and gaming companies which involved some internet merchant sites. The game companies maintain that the registered player of their game doesn't really own the account he made. This goes for everything that account encompasses, characters and items included. They hold that the player merely has the right to play that account by virtue of having registered. He has no right to sell it or anything associated with it.
