Can You Make Gold With Crafting Professions?
A common question players ask is, "what profession should I get?" Most of the time they are interested in knowing what profession will make them the most gold and more often than not the question pertains to which gathering profession they should pick up. Now while I can understand the desire to make more gold, I don't like how picking a profession has come down to deciding on what gathering profession to pick instead of what profession would enhance my character the most and which profession seems like the most fun.
Now gathering professions aside, I hardly ever see a recommendation for players to pick up crafting professions to make gold with. Now I'll give the gathering professions their due credit, they are really easy to make gold with, but they can also be pretty boring to make gold with as they are simply a way to farm for gold. Don't get me wrong, I have several miners, but I also see that you can make lots of gold with crafting professions and I usually pick professions for my characters that I would actually like to do that will enhance my particular character.
So is the potential there to make a lot of gold with crafting professions? The answer is definitely yes. Is it going to require a bit more thought and creativity than gathering professions? Definitely yes. Will you have to spend hours farming for mats? Definitely no.
The really big benefit in using crafting professions to make gold is that you don't have to spend hours farming, and with gathering professions that's a big part of how you make your money. Next time you create a new character don't opt for the standard mining or herbalism or even skinning to make gold pick something you actually want to do and you will be able to make gold with it.

Common Snake Feeding Mistakes
If you are new to owning or raising a pet snake, there is a lot to learn about proper care and feeding. In an effort to help you get up to speed quickly, I'm providing you a short list of some of the most common feeding mistakes and how to avoid them. Some of them seem like common sense, while others are only learned from trial and error or through advice from snake experts.
If you are using frozen feeders to feed your snake, most of the common errors come during the preparation phase of your pet's meal. You need to be able to properly separate and warm the rodents that you will be using. A good reptile food supplier will flash freeze the feeders so that they are easily separated and removed from the container. If you are getting your food in a large frozen block of mice where you have to chip away to get you mice out...find a new supplier. It makes for unnecessary work and cause damage to the feeder, and makes a mess.
Once you have your snake's meal separated out, you need to properly warm them before they are ready to eat. Never try and feed your snake a rodent that isn't thawed all the way through, it is not good for them. The best way is to warm them up in a pot of warm water on the stove. Allow them to warm for several minutes on low temperature until completely thawed. It's not a good idea to boil them, you are trying to thaw them out...not cook them! And do not use the Microwave! Not only is it a bad way to thaw them, but it can go horribly wrong, and you will have one unpleasant mess to clean up. The word 'yuck' is an understatement in this case.
Once you have mastered getting your feeders thawed out, the next place new snake owners often make a mistake in the method that they use to actually feed the snake. Presentation is everything in human food, so too for our reptile friends. You can use your tongs to wave the rodent near the snake so that it can get the scent. If it doesn't take it straight from your tongs don't give up and take it away. You can place it in the opposite end of the feeding enclosure. It may take your snake a bit before it is ready to feed, or it may prefer to 'hunt' its food as opposed to taking it straight from the tongs.
Those are some of the more common mistakes that most new snake owners make when trying to feed their snakes. With a little experience these things will get much easier.

2009 Golf Digest Hot List Winners Review
A look at Golf Digest's Hot List 2009,
Whether you are a fanatical golf equipment or just a casual observer of offers and current trends in golf clubs and accessories, then the Golf Digest 2009 Hot List a jumble golf equipment. Driver, fairway woods and hybrids, irons, wedges and putter break-oh, bags and balls, and the guru of the devices in it's annual Golf Digest rankings in their popular devices.

If you wonder howGolf experts rated equipment, for example, think Callaway TaylorMade driver or iron, Excel spreadsheets with thousands of data points, hundreds of pages of technical data from manufacturers of golf equipment, scientists, evaluation criteria into four sections and two one-week visit to San Jose, California, location for field tests.
The process is, in a word, exhausting. Golf Digest rated '"universe" of items-471 golf clubs, to be exact and judged on four weighted criteria: 1)Power (40%), 2) innovation (30%), 3) watch / hear sound / (20%), and 4) demand (10%).
After gathering all the facts and the judges were engaged in nine days of meetings, which included 800 debates to list Hot 116 Club to go. Along the way he ate a lot of takeaway food.

Driver
Golf breaks Golf Digest, the category driver in two parts: the driver of more than $ 350 and $ 350 driver. Then itdivides the two categories of gold and silver winners.

Top Gold Farming Spots in World of Warcraft
So, you're probably looking for the best places in Azeroth to find gold. There are quite of few good ways to pick up that much wanted gold, but some ways are much less efficient than others. For those looking to farm gold, these five spots are among the best in the game. (before the Burning Crusade)
Azshara
Everyone will tell you how great Azshara is for farming gold and there's a good reason for it. When approaching the area for the first time, head north to the middle of the region. Massive Timbermaws are a great starting point here and offer a great deal of drops and gold. Blood Elves further south are a great method as well. They drop Runecloth which can always be sold at the Auction House for decent gold. Legashi Demons are another good choice in this region as they drop high level items, occasionally even Epics.
Stratholme
This is actually an instance for five team members and is rather short. With a decent group, it can be completed in less than an hour and with a great group in less than 30 minutes. The key to Stratholme though is that you can find numerous disenchanted items here that often turn around for fairly decent gold. This is a great instance and highly effective gold farming location.
Stranglethorn Vale
In the midst of this region you'll find Crystalvein Mine. This is where you want to go. You'll need to head east from Gurubashi Arena to reach the mine, but once you're there, you'll find a great deal of a particularly fruitful Ironjaw Basilisks. They drop all sorts of random trash items that you can sell for decent amounts of gold to vendors. Not only that, but their corpses are great for picking up thick and heavy leather.
Eastern Plaguelands
Head to the Eastern Plaguelands and to the southwest corner of the region. Here you'll find the Undercroft and Mossflayer Zombies. The Mossflayer Zombies are fairly easy to kill, but more importantly they return quickly and drop all sorts of silver and Runecloth. With quick respawn and decent drops this is a great place to farm if you can get it to yourself. Another great mob in the Plaguelands is the Plaguebat. This creature drops lots of Vendor trash of its own which sells fairly well.
Westfall
On the far western shore of Westfall you'll find a Defias Trappers outpost. Anyone can farm here, high or low level as these trappers drop linen cloth more than 1 in 3. Low level players can build money and cloth to resell while higher level players can simply gather linen cloth. It's a great farming locale.
Places of Interest in Quito, Ecuador
The capital city of Ecuador is Quito - a beautiful place built high up with in the mountains. For those with a head for heights take the telefonica cable car up from the base of the Pinchincha volcano for fabulous views of the city. At 2,800m above sea level the altitude in the city itself does take a little getting used to! Quito is split in to two quite distinct parts - old and new. Quito old town is very beautiful and quite European in feel - lots if big plazas, beautiful churches, narrow cobbled streets surrounded by pastel coloured buildings. The new town has more of the amenities, tourist shops, banks, tour operators, luxury hotels, restaurants and bars but its appearance has nothing on the old town. Most people opt to stay in the new town as it is safer after dark and closer to backpacker nightlife.
Just 30k outside of Quito is Mitad del Mundo - the centre of the earth (you can catch up bus from the north bus station situated in between the old and new quarter of the city) - Ecuador's location on the equator line is the origin of its name. Mitad del Mundo is a monument erected on what was thought to be the site where 0 degrees longitude meets 0 degrees latitude. Unfortunately for the monument builders it turned out years later that the actual point where this occurs is in fact c. 200m away from the monument - but it's definitely still a fun place to visit and to take the obligatory photos at the 'centre of the earth'. There is quite an interesting museum inside the monument about all the indigenous communities with in Ecuador - there are many more than you might think!
The wonderful Papallacta hot springs are situated just 67k east of Quito, on the route taken in 1542 by the Spanish Conquistador Francisco del Orellana as he crossed the Andes mountain range in order to discover the Amazon River. At 3,300 metres above sea level the views from the heart of the Andes mountains are incredible - be prepared for a slightly andrenalin filled bus journey though and those with a fear of heights shouldn't take the window seat! The hydrothermal value of the Papallacta springs is due to their location between two volcanoes Cayambe & Antisana - the springs termperature at source varies from 30 degrees to 70 degrees and at the pools from 36-40 desgrees. A highlight of any trip to Ecuador is sitting in a natural hot pool, carved out of the rock, surrounded by the mist that clings to the tops of the Andes - it will really take your breath away. The Ecuadorian medical association certifies that the waters have medicinal benefits and with a beautiful spa complex and a multitude of massages and treatments to choose from at bargain prices you are guaranteed to come out feeling like a new person. You will need to stay over night as the complex is a long way from any thing else - there are budget options at the foot of the road up to the spa (a c. 2 mile road up) the spa itself has 32 rooms with heating, open fires, private bathrooms and their own private hot spring pools. Find some backpacker friends in Quito and head up as a group to save on costs.
From Quito you can fly out to the Galapagos which assuming you have the cash should not be missed!! The Galapagos are a stunning archipelago over 1000km off the Ecuadorian coast. They live up and exceed all expectations - which being usually based on beautifully shot wildlife programmes are very high! The only downside is that a 1 week trip will prob set you back any thing from £1k - £1.5k - but if you can find the funds its worth every penny. The wildlife here is so abundant & so at home with the human beings that exist along side that by the end of your weeks stay you become almost blaze about sitting eating your dinner with a sea lion at your feet! Excitement over the experiences to come builds from the moment you step off the plane & walk across the runway to the 'aiport' (wooden shack covered in tarpaulin) stepping over sleeping iguanas, enjoying the heat of the tarmack, as you go. The wildlife is amazing and you will get closer than you ever imagined - from blue footed boobies to giant tortoises, pelicans, penguins, flamingos, iguanas, sharks, dolphins and whales - it will blow your mind! The different eco systems on each island are fascinating and if you can get yourself on a land tour which enables you to stay on some of the bigger islands rather than simply doing it with the masses on a 'cruise' type trip it is well worth it. Do not miss the many highlights on the island of Isabella such as walking across a lava field and through lava tunnels (make sure you check for any volcano warnings though - this one's still very active!). Top tip - make sure you get the passport stamp - it has to be one of if not the best in the world ....we won't ruin the surprise!
From the terminal terrestre in the old town of Quito you can get a bus to the little mountain town of Latacunga - here you can organise trips to the Cotopaxi volcano and Quilatoa lake. Cotopaxi volcano is stunning & picture perfect - ask a child to draw you a volcano and their efforts would look like Cotopaxi! It is possible to climb the volcano - for the less adventurous you can take the path (a vertical one at 4,800m altitude) to base camp and from there reach the start of the glaciers. Alternatively if you're up for a challenge - you can opt to stay at base camp over night and scale the summit at 4am with crampons - a great challenge & experience! Lake Quilatoa is beautiful - a sunken crater lake filled with very inviting but utterly toxic turquoise waters & surrounded by grazing alpacas. The journey from Latacunga to the lake is one of the best in south America, with beautiful scenery and offering rare insights into the indigenous communities passed along the way.
The next destination is Riobamba where you can board the spectacular train - the Diablo Nariz (devils nose) the views from this train journey are stunning but it's departure times are erratic and the town itself offers very little so check this before arrival. One worth while expedition from Riobamba is the mountain bike trip up Chimborazzo - Ecuadors highest volcano at 6,300m to the summit. The walk to the top isn't as steep as Cotopaxi so despite the higher altitude it is an easier walk up. The views as you mountain bike down Chimborazzo are stunning but be ready for a bumpy ride!
The little spa town of Banos is very well worth a visit - don't expect much from the baths themselves but the town is full of character and for those who enjoy horse riding there are some beautiful rides in the surrounding area.
Cuenca is the 3rd biggest city in Ecuador after Quito & Guayaquil - it has a very European feel to it with spacious green plazas & beautiful churches. A further bus ride south is the riverside town of Loja - a convenient place to stop on your way to gorgeous Vilcabamba but offering little to see.
Close to the border with Peru is the backpacker haven of Villcabamba - a fantastic place to relax for a few days (or weeks!) before you take on Peru. There are some great places to stay such as the Rumi Wilko eco lodge on the banks of the river. Swimming in the river, walking the mountain paths, horse riding and bargain massages all make this place an Ecuador highlight.

The New World of Gaming - Too Human
On the 29th of August comes Too Human, the epic new game from Silicon Knights and Microsoft. In this game the player plays as the Norse God Baldur through an action-packed war between man and machine.
The game includes hundreds of thousands of weapons and armor which are found after defeating enemies. Practically all the items in the game are found this way (similar to the Diablo series). Also available is the chance for players to play as one of five different classes, each with its own unique abilities and skills. Furthermore, the player can choose to stay more or less human, or become more machine with the aid of cybernetic enhancements.
Too Human features many other Norse Gods such as Thor, Odin, Loki, etc. Every aspect of the character that you play as is totally customizable, from there look, to the items they wield. As you defeat more difficult and larger enemies, your character level increases, opening up opportunities to face harder enemies and allowing the player to find better quality, and more powerful equipment.
There are many different enemies, ranging from the small, common and quite easy to defeat, to the major antagonists which are very hard to defeat. A few of these enemies have had information about them released, such as the Goblins which are the backbone of the mechanical army and are very common. Others include the Dark Elves, Trolls and Spider Robots. Some of the names of these are related to Norse mythology even though they are mechanical beings.
This game has stunning graphics and amazing gameplay; this along with the freedom and customization of the game allows hours upon hours of play. This game is only available on the Xbox 360 and is set to be one of the best games released this year.

As you get up in levels, spending time "grinding" as boring as it sounds, can be profitable if you are grinding in the right areas. Grinding in areas where the creatures drop unique items that you can sell at the auction house is a very effective way to make gold.
I have read about players who grind away for a few hours and take what they have picked up and sell at the auction house for 200-300 gold. The key is finding out what sells. And to do that you must visit the auction house regularly and view what is hot!
If you are going to do the auction house thing, it is highly advisable to get a mule-a character who just spends time in the auction house listing your goodies.
You will find that once you hit level 40 and above, farming massive amounts of gold becomes a far easier task because you can travel to tougher regions and take on tougher monsters who drop great items.
Oh yeah, one last piece of advice, pickup everything you can and sell it. Leave nothing behind...its like leaving money on the table!
Diablo 3 - Wizard Trailer
Diablo III is an action role-playing game in a hack and slash and "dungeon roaming" style, currently in development as the third installment of Blizzard's Diablo franchise. The game takes place in Sanctuary, the dark fantasy world of the Diablo series. This world was saved twenty years prior by a handful of unnamed heroes in Diablo II. Warriors that survived the onslaught of the armies of the Burning Hells have gone mad from their ordeals and it is up to a new generation of heroes to face the forces of evil threatening the world of Sanctuary. Players will have the opportunity to explore familiar settings such as Tristram. The only confirmed NPC is Deckard Cain, who has appeared in both of the previous games. The Future of Video Games
I’ve recently been thinking about where video games could be going in the future. I’m hoping to work in the game industry one day after I’ve finished university study and I’ve been wondering about it a lot. What do I want to see happen in the future? Well I may not have too many answers right now, but I have come up with a few ideas that I think may come into ‘play’ in the not too distant future.
Firstly forget Virtual Reality, as we know it. They’ve tried VR goggles and they made a lot of people sick in doing so. It’s probably never going to work very well in its current form. They’re still around and you can still buy them but they really don’t seem to be taking off. It will probably take a lot to get people totally immersed and involved in a new form of game play. It’s threatening to lose touch with the outside world and the people around you aren’t going to appreciate it much either. The Sci-fi neural implants are also both a long way off and not likely to be accepted by a majority of the general populace without some severe marketing and luck. I for one am not planning on going through brain surgery just to have a computer attached to my head. In fact I never want anyone to able to plug into my brain.
A technology that was brought to my attention by a zealous presenter at the local ‘Science and Technology Centre’ (a sort of science museum aimed at making science fun for children and juvenile adults such as yours truly) is that of ‘Augmented Reality’. Augmented Reality is essentially the overlaying of virtual elements onto the real world, such as a pair of transparent glasses that can display certain elements over the top of what is actually there. I agree with the presenter in that this could indeed have some awesome potential. Forget all the socially beneficial applications such as workmen being able to view underground pipes before digging, think about it from a games point of view. This technology could provide gamers with the ability to run around looking like complete idiots shooting at things that aren’t actually there and that no one else can see, kind of like in the film ‘They Live!’ The upside to this is that it would be a lot of fun. A group of people from the University of South Australia created the ‘ARQuake’ project, [http://wearables.unisa.edu.au/projects/ARQuake/www/], merging the classic shooter Quake with this Augmented Reality technology. Again, this technology may not ever become overly popular, but it would be entertaining to play with.
Technology has driven the games industry for a long time with new games always trying to keep one step ahead of the competition. It started way back at the dawn of technology and it continues to this day. 2D graphics gave way to 3D and 3D is becoming ever better. Graphics are starting to lose the ability to impress like they once did. The step between Quake 2 and 3 was amazing, but DOOM 3 while being visually very impressive isn’t leaps and bounds ahead of its competitors in the same way new games used to be. 2D graphics encountered a similar problem; there comes a point where you just can’t do much more with graphics technology. It is this that turns graphics from striving for technological achievement to becoming art. It is my hope that we will start turning away from tech demos and return to game play and making great entertainment. Games such as Zelda: The Wind Waker or The Sims that strive to show greater depth of character through simplifying the game enough to portray emotions will hopefully become more common (and more fun… but that’s just one person’s view…). Technology plays a certain part in the conveying of emotions and story but it’s quite hard to focus on everything at once. When technology is easier and less essential to game sales we’ll hopefully see an increase in games that cast a lasting impression.
Somewhat unfortunately the rise of the ‘Casual Gamer’ will probably lead to more simplistic games being released. While personally I would love to see depth of story and characters, there are a significant number of players out there who want to pick up a game for twenty minutes or so, have a bit of fun, and then put it down until another time. These gamers are generally less interested in the latest greatest technology and more interested in a ‘fast food’ kind of entertainment that satisfies the moment, despite the lack of quality or the lasting effects. Hopefully the two game types can co-exist peacefully although recently it has been seen that some developers are cutting down on some of the planned depth of a title in order to accommodate the more casual gamer.
As technology pushes forwards boundaries are slowly being broken down between systems. We saw the Bleemcast a few years back enabling the running of Playstation games on the Dreamcast, and the PC is able to run almost anything given the right emulation software. Consoles are able to emulate other consoles and new consoles are being announced that promise the ability to play PC games. The Xbox 2 is reported to have a model in planning that comes in a PC case and with the ability to run both PC software and Xbox software. Macs can emulate Windows software and vice-versa. We’ll probably start seeing less of a distinction between consoles and PCs as the price of technology continues to drop and consoles continue to become more and more powerful and able to compete with the more expensive computers. Ideally we’ll see a single platform come into prominence so that everything can be run without purchasing a copious number of different machines, although that does have a downside in that it can establish a monopoly for one particular company.
The technology price drop and increase in power has also lead to more powerful hand-held machines than before. Real games, not just simple toys are now available for the portable market. The advent of PDAs and mobile phones with the ability to play games raises awareness of portable gaming and new competitors are starting to get in on the field that was once primarily dominated by Nintendo’s GameBoy. There is a new product, the gp32, that can run many different emulators and hence, many different system’s games (including some PC games).
I can’t say for sure what’s going to happen but these are just a few ideas that I’ve had recently. Hopefully the games industry will continue to strive towards new heights with new and interesting game play, stories, characters and ideas. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the next few years.

World of Warcraft Jewelcrafting Guide
With the Burning Crusade expansion, World of Warcraft players have the ability to use Jewelcrafting to create rings, necklaces, crowns, and other items which were previously only available as quest rewards or loot drops. You can also use item socketing in much the same way as it is used in Diablo II to create new armor. Members of the Jewelcrafting profession, or Jewelcrafters, carve gems to prepare them for insertion into socketed items. The addition of these jewels creates bonus enhancements to armor, based on the type of jewel used. While Jewelcrafters are the primary source of usable jewels in these items, some dangerous monsters also drop gems that can be used in this way.
Socketed items can have gems installed by any character, but they cannot be altered aside from putting the gems into them. Sockets cannot be added to, changed, or removed from any item. Once a jewel has been obtained from a Jewelcrafter, it can be socketed by shift-right-clicking the desired item and dropping the jewel into the socket in the window that pops up. After placing the jewel, simply click the "Socket Gems" button to create the new item. While you can replace an old jewel with a new one, this destroys the old jewel completely.
Jewelcrafters should pair their primary profession of Jewelcrafting with Mining to enable them to acquire raw materials more easily. With these materials, such as metal ores, a Jewelcrafter can create rings and other jewelry for sale. At low levels, these are simply Copper Rings, but other items are quickly available. A Jeweler's Kit is also required initially, but this can be acquired for 8 silver at the Jewelcrafting supply vendor. Making items available to your Jewelcrafting characters will improve their skills by a point per item as well as earning experience. Items that are displayed in green test in the Jewelcrafting menu are worth less experience and you may have to make several of them to acquire a skill point. Yellow or orange text items are more difficult and worth correspondingly more in skill development. At a certain level, particular items will stop bringing experience when made, and more difficult items will have to be created to produce the same effect. A common strategy is to find an item which uses a small amount of readily available materials and grind up skills by making many of it. This way, you can stockpile component items such as Delicate Copper Wire and Bronze Settings for later use while improving your skill. Until the higher levels, Jewelcrafting is mostly about creating jewelry and small trinkets.
At skill level 20, you can learn Prospecting from the Jewelcrafting trainer. In addition to your Mining skill, this will allow you to extract gems from the ore you have mined. This is advantageous, since other Miners don't have this ability. It also increases the chance of obtaining gems for jewelry. Prospecting can be taken without having the Mining skill, but your Jewelcrafting skill must be the same as the minimum skill level for mining particular piece of ore in order to prospect it. You will need 5 of any type of ore in order to use Prospecting on it. After reaching skill level 300 in Jewelcrafting, you will be able to cut special gems found in the Outland. This requires the use of a Simple Grinder, again purchased from the Jewelcrafting supplies vendor. The Grinder costs 2 gold and fifty silver. Cutting these gems permits them to be used in socketed armor. Anyone can socket already cut gems, so if you don't need them for your personal gear, you can sell them to other players.
Each type of gem in World of Warcraft is categorized by color. Different colors of gem provide different abilities when used in socketed items. Any colored gem will fit into any colored socket, but if you match the colors of the gem and socket, a bonus is activated. Primary colored gems, such as red, yellow, and blue will only match the socket for their specific color. Secondary colored gems - green, orange, and purple - will match either of the two colored sockets that make up their color. A purple gem would thus be matchable with a red or blue colored socket. Meta gems come with an additional bonus, but have special color requirements for activation, so players may choose to forfeit a socket bonus in order to obtain the meta bonus instead.
The cut of a gem affects what bonus it gives. Cutting a Blood Garnet into a Teardrop Blood Garnet gives +13 to Healing Spells, whereas creating a Bright Blood Garnet gives +12 to Attack Power. Each color of gem has uncommon and rare forms that can be cut according to different patterns learned from vendors. Uncommon patterns can be learned at Jewelcrafting skill level 300 to 325, and rare patterns are learnable at skill level 350. Cuts for meta gems are learnable at a higher skill level than those for regular gems, around skill level 365. They will only fit into meta sockets that are available only on high level items. Some meta gems will also be dropped by bosses or created by alchemists. Boss drop meta slot jewels can't be crafted.
For many Jewelcrafters, the goal is to grind their skill up to 300 as quickly as possible. This is best done by creating many of the items made from easy, readily available materials. What path you use to reach this goal will depend on what materials you have on hand, and how much space you have in your inventory. In many cases, making more of an item with yellow text will provide "free" skill points since it is a required component for other items. Doing these early in the game allows you to use them later as well as to get the skill points for making them.

PC Hunting Games are Getting More Interactive and Real

Moissanite
The mineral moissanite derives its name from Nobel Prize winner Dr. Ferdinand Henri Moissan, who discovered traces of it in a meteorite at Diablo Canyon it in 1893. What makes this substance so special is that it is almost as hard as diamond.
